Share Some, Care Some

I’m going to jog your memory now.

Remember when your parents taught you that sharing is caring?

No?

Around kindergarden?

No?

Maybe your parents forgot.

So, umm…. for the benefit of doubt…. sharing, according to Merriam-Webster is:

Soon after kindergarden, along with maths and literature, we learnt several other lessons. lessons like ‘there is scarcity in the world’, ‘people are mean’, ‘no one is grateful if you do anything for them’ or ‘more for me means security and happiness’.

These lessons caused us linear thinkers to come up with some ground rules for succeeding in this world. One of these rules, for a massive number of people, was, ‘sharing can go #$%@Y@#’. I.e. Sharing is bad.

Now, here are some scenarios for your consideration.

Scenario 1: You want burger and fries. Portion equals close to half a pound worth of calories. You share it with your best friend. Friendship sores, calories plunge. Smiles all around!

Scenario 2: You have a lot of things lying around. Things that are weighing you down. You sort them out and give them away. You just made room in your closet, opened your heart & probably clothed someone who needed it. Ding ding!

Scenario 3: You have contacts that you have preciously collected. There are people who could use those contacts. You share. They succeed. You just made someone’s life better. Some time later, they get to know someone important due to their success… guess who’ll get the introduction this time? You!

Scenario 4: You’ve learnt an important lesson. You blog about it. Someone changes their life because of it. YES! (Here’s hoping!)

No matter the scenario, what you earn, by sharing, is trust. It’s respect. It’s camaraderie. It’s goodwill. It’s better sleep. Everyone wants more. Everyone puts themselves first. But when you consider others, it puts you in different league (not to mention better karma).

There’s enough for everyone! Just flip that mind… the grass is indeed greener on the other side!
