Your wait is over… Summer is Here! And so are my Travel Blogs!

I know you have Yelp to help you judge what's a highly-rated restaurant or a nice spot with parking. So, my travel blogs will tell you what Yelp doesn't. It will speak of aesthetics, crowd, commute and how the place would feature on your travel plan or on your insta-feed. And of course, all of this would be through the eyes of a Millennial with many stamps on her passport. <3

It’s the first day of summer! Time to bring out those flip flops and beach towels!

As we contemplate our summer exploits while watching June bugs perish in the summer heat, I’ve decided to help you immerse yourself in the beach life and beach culture of SoCal.

I love to travel, sample cuisines, and explore my surroundings. I realized that this passion of mine can translate into opportunities for my readers. So, I am going to create a travel section in my blog that focuses on SoCal especially. This way, you have plenty of opportunities to scope out your next travel plan to Southern California through the eyes of a local.

Look, I know you have Yelp to help you judge what’s a highly-rated restaurant or a nice spot with parking. So, my travel blogs will tell you what Yelp doesn’t. First Stop: Pain Du Monde (PDM) Cafe in Dana Point

Yesterday, I dropped by Dana Point and had a White Chocolate Mocha (with some whip cream of course) while picking up a Hazelnut Latte for a loved one.

PDM is a small chain of 4 cafes exclusive to OC (at least for now). Their coffee is reminiscent to what you would get at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.

If you’re not all about sugar syrup, I would ask for half pumps/powders to start. Their whip cream is delicious and their top contenders IMO are: White Chocolate Mocha with Whip (blended or hot), Java Chip Ice Blended, Chai Tea Latte. Their Almond twists are delicious and so are their customizable breakfast burritos and mango salad. The Dana Point and Corona Del Mar locations are walking distance from the beach, so a great place to stop before or after a beach walk! Never opposed to an iced tea from there on a beach day!

hot POINTS

I gave PDM 3/5 hot points. It lost points purely because of the coffee and barista expertise. There are cafes in OC that blow PDM out of the water purely because of incredible coffee and talented baristas. However the location, the local crowd and the following make PDM a cool spot to visit:

That’s all folks! Until next Tuesday, thanks for reading and happy summer! I’ll leave you with a gorgeous pic I took on my jog yesterday. ❀ Shilpa
